Tom Butwin is a singer, actor, guitarist, and songwriter.  He recently starred as "Jesus" in Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical, "Jesus Christ Superstar” and is a four-time Detroit Music Award Nominee. He’s also shared the stage with two Broadway and West End “Phantoms,” Franc DiAmbrosio and Ramin Karimloo. In 2018, Tom was cast and performed in “Bonhoeffer: The Musical” for its off-Broadway staged reading, directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell Broadway Revival) at the Signature Theater in New York City.

In addition to his recent work in theater, Tom has released four full-length albums and multiple EPs, the most recent being 2016's collection of classic musical theater songs, “A Different Stage,” and 2018’s “The Superstar EP.” In November of 2017, Tom was featured on PBS’s Detroit Performs Live alongside jazz legend Alexander Zonjic & Ruben Studdard, of American Idol fame.

In 2016, Tom embarked on an ambitious project called #52Covers through which he released a new cover song each week, for an entire year, to his YouTube Channel, which currently has over 2.5 million views. Tom’s 2013 original LP, “This & Hereafter,” was the product of a similar, self-imposed creative challenge in which he wrote a new song every day, for 14 days straight.

Tom has shared stages with and opened for Third Eye Blind, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Ernie Halter, Ruben Studdard, Cody Fry, Steve Moakler, and Seth Glier at such highly acclaimed venues as Hammerson Hall (Toronto, ON), Rockwood Music Hall (NYC), The Ark (Ann Arbor, MI), the Rothbury/Electric Forest Festival, and the Motor City Casino Soundboard (Detroit, MI).
